The drama was first unveiled in January 2020 with the tentative title, What Matters Most.[4]

The full trailer was released on March 11, 2020 via the action-drama series FPJ's Ang Probinsyano, along with the title being changed to Ang sa Iyo ay Akin.[3] A new full trailer of the series was released on July 20, 2020 for an August release date.[5]

Premiere date

Ang sa Iyo ay Akin was originally set to premiere on March 23, 2020, however, it was postponed as part of ABS-CBN's temporary programming changes due to the 2020 Luzon enhanced community quarantine enacted to control the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country. Its intended timeslot was occupied by reruns of Got to Believe.[6]

On March 25, 2020, series lead Iza Calzado was hospitalized due to pneumonia and was tested for COVID-19.[7] Three days later, it was confirmed that she was afflicted with the said disease.[8] After another test, Calzado tested negative for COVID-19 and was discharged from the hospital on March 30, 2020.[9]

Its premiere was delayed further following the temporary closure of ABS-CBN on account of the expiration of its franchise.[10] The show's intended timeslot was then filled by reruns of The General's Daughter on the Kapamilya Channel.[11]

It will now premiere on the Kapamilya Channel in August 17, 2020, however, it will be aired on Primetime Bida instead of Kapamilya Gold replacing The World of the Married Couple. It is the timeslot of the cancelled Make It with You.
