Career
Watt grew up in Great Neck, New York.[1][6] Watt attended John L. Miller Great Neck North High School, and graduated in 2008.[7][8] His first professional gigs came with occasionally playing the guitar with The Roots during their Highline Ballroom Jam sessions.[9] At the beginning of his career, he was also a guitar player for Jared Evan, Cody Simpson, Justin Bieber and other acts.
In 2013, Watt was a founding member and guitarist of the rock band California Breed alongside Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Black Sabbath) and Jason Bonham (Foreigner, Led Zeppelin).[10] In 2015, John Varvatos Records offered Watt a record deal after John Varvatos, a California Breed fan, heard Watt’s solo music.[11][12] The same year, Watt recorded and released his first major label EP, Ghost In My Head.[13] Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith and Queens of the Stone Age’s Joey Castillo played drums on the record, while Watt played all the other instruments himself.[14]
Watt opened for Jane’s Addiction in October 2015.[14] He also opened The Cult’s Los Angeles show in February 2016.[15] In February 2016, Rolling Stone praised Watt's vocal performance of "L.A. Woman" on stage with Robby Krieger during The Doors tribute to Ray Manzarek.[16]
Watt is also a producer.[11][17][18] He won a Grammy in 2019 for Cardi B's album Invasion of Privacy which won Rap Album of the Year.[19]
Watt was the producer of Ozzy Osbourne's album Ordinary Man which was released on February 21, 2020.[20]
In March 2020, Watt announced that he tested positive for COVID-19, during its pandemic in United States.[21]
