Andrew Lumsden (choral director)

Andrew Lumsden (born 1962[1]) has been organist and director of music at Winchester Cathedral from 2002. The son of Sir David Lumsden, he trained at Winchester College, RSAMD and St John's College, Cambridge, before taking up the position of assistant organist at Southwark Cathedral in 1985. From there he moved to Westminster Abbey in 1988 as sub-organist and then to Lichfield Cathedral in 1992 as organist and master of the choristers until moving to Winchester in 2002. He is currently the director of the Waynflete Singers.

Television appearances

Lumsden has appeared on Great British Railway Journeys, in which presenter Michael Portillo was introduced to the Winchester Cathedral organ.[2] Other appearances include editions of Songs of Praise from Westminster Abbey, St Margaret's Westminster (for a programme on Parliament) and Beaulieu Abbey. Televised services include memorial services for Lord Olivier, Dame Peggy Ashcroft and the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Britain (all from Westminster Abbey), Midnight Mass and four Advent services from Lichfield, Easter morning Eucharist, two Songs of Praise and Christmas Day carols from Winchester. Also Top Gear and the Westland Helicopter AGM in the Royal Albert Hall.

gollark: Also, apparently if you could transmit information faster than light that would break causality, which would be bad.
gollark: According to xkcd, keeping updated would only require 5 printers worth of throughput, which is not very much in terms of bitrate.
gollark: I mean, it's probably way more complicated, but basically you can't send information faster than light that way.
gollark: Anyway, my knowledge of this is not very detailed, but IIRC quantum entanglement means that if you observe one particle the other one collapses into another state, or something like that, and you don't control which state is picked, so you can't send any data.
