Anchor, Texas

Anchor is an Unincorporated community in central Brazoria County, Texas that formerly had a distinct community. The location of Anchor is at the intersection of Farm to Market Road 521 and County Road 44, 4 miles (6.4 km) northwest of Angleton.[1]

Some believe the community was named after a local cattle brand, while others hold it was named after Anchor, Illinois, the native home of an early settler.[2]

  • There is an old episode of The Dick Van Dyke Show, number 146, entitled "Remember the Alimony", which is set in Anchor.
  • Intersection of FM 521 and County 44 (at left) was once an important railroad intersection.
