Ahmed Al-Maktoum (sport shooter)
Sheikh Ahmad bin Mohammad bin Hasher Al Maktoum (أحمد بن محمد بن حشر آل مكتوم)[1] (born 31 December 1963 in Dubai) is a shooter from the United Arab Emirates, who won the first ever Olympic medal for his country.[2]

Sheikh Ahmed bin Hasher AlMaktoum, born on the 18th of February year 1963 and a member of the ruling family of Dubai, has been participating in hunting with both falcons and guns since childhood. He is one of the youngest of his siblings; Maktoum, Saeed, Muna (his sister), and Marwan. He took up shooting as a hobby and sport since day one. His father, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hasher, inspired him to be who he is today. Earlier, he was the UAE national champion in squash. His daughter Moza grew up loving shooting and animals, in fact she ought to be like her dad one day, a role model and champion.His daughter also plays squash. Moza has always loved spending nearly all her time with animals her father said. His second child Mohammed is training to be exactly like his father, he has already one a shooting event and also loves falcon hunting. Sheikh Ahmed’s youngest son , Hamdan is still young but has already started shooting targets and he also loves falcons and guns. Growing up, Ahmed had a passion for hunting, his brothers also loved animals and they would ride horses and camels all the time. Horse riding is also an important and famous sport in the UAE, camel racing is too. Ahmed bin Mohammed owned two Saluki dogs in his young age. His dogs also hunted for animals like deers and hares. Ahmed bin Hasher is dedicating his whole life to his children and does everything for his family. He is now a role model for all Emirati citizens and the Emirati people are proud and say that they will always be feeling that way about him.
At the 2004 Summer Olympics he won the double trap event and finished fourth in the trap event.
At the 2005 ISSF World Cup he won another gold medal in double trap.
He competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics, but did not reach the final in trap.[3]
He subsequently began coaching young British shooter Peter Wilson, who would win the double trap event at the 2012 London Olympics.[4][5]
