Delineation

Acadieville Parish is defined in the Territorial Division Act[2] as being bounded:

West by the west line of Weldford Parish prolonged northerly; south by Saint-Louis Parish; northwest by the County line; and east by Carleton Parish.

History

Acadieville Parish was founded in 1868 by Acadian settlers who rushed to claim the provincial Crown Lands after it was revealed that the surveyed route for the Intercolonial Railway would pass through the area.

In 1869, the Intercolonial Railway's route was modified and it was constructed approximately 10 kilometres to the west.

gollark: That doesn't seem horrible. They have to be 6n + something, and can't be +2 or +4 (even) or +3 (multiple of 3) or +0 or +6 (multiple of 2 *and* 3).
gollark: This is somewhat helpful, thanks.
gollark: Also, can someone comprehensibly explain what a "tensor" is? I hear about them a lot, but Wikipedia says something incomprehensible about multilinear maps and I remember reading something useless like that a "tensor is something that transforms like a tensor".
gollark: Sounds unpleasant.
gollark: On all the maths exams I do, we have calculators.

Notes

  1. Civil parishes served a variety of government functions until 1966, when the new Municipalities Act stripped them of their responsibilities; they continue to provide convenient boundaries for government uses, especially electoral districts and local service districts. Statistics Canada uses civil parishes as census subdivisions for all parts of the province that are not within municipalities and similar entities.
