Absettarov virus

The Absettarov virus (ABSV) is a strain of tick-borne encephalitis virus (Far Eastern subtype) in the genus Flavivirus. It was isolated in 1951 in Leningrad from the blood of a 3-year-old boy with biphasic fever and signs of meningitis. It can be found in Sweden, Finland, Poland, former Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Austria, Bulgaria, and western parts of the former USSR.[1] It was considered a species until 2000.[2]
