By June 1998, A New Stereophonic Sound Spectacular had sold over 140,000 copies worldwide.[4] In November 2011, the band announced the re-release of the album in a deluxe format, including the album on vinyl, a collection of remixes and rarities from the era, artwork, and a booklet of essays by band members about the album.[5]

Composition

The song "2Wicky" is based on a sampled loop from Isaac Hayes' cover of the Burt Bacharach and Hal David-penned "Walk On By", and also contains samples from "Le Voile d'Orphée" performed by Pierre Henry. The original version of the song "Plus Profond" was titled "Anything", but the sample was uncleared and the song could not be released. The full version of "Anything" was later performed on 2006's "New Stereophonic Spectacular Tour".[6]
