Predicted/scheduled events

Predicted

Extrapolations

  • c.3000: Sea level was predicted to rise by between 1.1 and 6.8 meters (4 and 22 ft) by the year 3000, in a 2012 study.[2]
  • 3015: A camera placed by Jonathon Keats will finish its exposure time after its placement at the ASU Art Museum in Tempe, Arizona, in 2015.[3]
  • 3117: Minimum time by which, according to physicist Andrew Kennedy, humanity can expect to have reached Barnard's Star, assuming an annual economic growth rate (and corresponding increase in power output) of 1.4% from 2007.[4]
  • 3183: The Time Pyramid, a public art work at Wemding, Germany, is scheduled for completion.[5]

In fiction

gollark: Also, does anyone know *why* there are *so many* music bots?
gollark: kbps is kiloBITS per second, utter sonata.
gollark: Doing so...
gollark: Opus is highly compressed; if you just dropped half the packets, it would probably break horribly.
gollark: And it can't, or the sound would absolutely not work.

"The research showed that we have already committed ourselves to a sea level rise of 1.1 metres by the year 3000 as a result of our greenhouse gas emissions up to now. This irreversible damage could be worse, depending on the route we take to mitigating our emissions. If we were to follow the high A2 emissions scenario adopted by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), a sea-level rise of 6.8 metres could be expected in the next thousand years. The two other IPCC scenarios analysed by the researchers, the B1 and A1B scenarios, yielded sea-level rises of 2.1 and 4.1 metres respectively."
