The 2020–21 season is the seventh professional season of Kerala Blasters in the Indian Super League, since their establishment in 2014.

Season overview

Background

On 15 March 2020 Kerala Blasters appointed Karolys Skinkis as their new Sporting director ahead of the new season.[1] On 22 April 2020, the club officially announced the signing of Kibu Vicuña as the new manager of the club.[2] The most surprising move was the departure of Sandesh Jhingan. He departed the club on 21 May 2020 in a mutual consent thus ending his six years association with the club.[3] The CEO Viren D'Silva also left the club in the same day itself.[4]

July

On 1 July 2020 Kerala Blasters officially announced that they have extended the contract of Jessel Carneiro till 2023[5]

On 8 July 2020, the club announced the signing of goalkeeper Albino Gomes on a free transfer from Odisha FC.[6]

On 15 July 2020 ,it was announced that the young midfielder Ritwik Das has joined the club from Real Kashmir.[7]

The signing of Nishu Kumar was finally confirmed by the club on 22 July 2020.The 4 year deal made Nishu the highest paid Indian defender.[8]

On 29 July 2020 , club announced the contract extension of local boy Abdul Hakku till 2023.[9]

August

On 5 August 2020 , Kerala Blasters completed the signing of left back Denechandra Meitei from TRAU F.C.[10]

On 12 August 2020 , it was announced that Sahal has extended his contract for three more years with the Blasters which made him to stay at the club till 2025.[11]
