2016 Miami Marlins season

The Miami Marlins' 2016 season was the 24th season for the Major League Baseball franchise, and the fifth as the "Miami" Marlins. This was the first season under manager Don Mattingly. The Marlins finished in third place in the National League East and they failed to make the playoffs for the 13th consecutive season. This also marked José Fernández's final season, as he died in a boating accident on September 25.[1]
