2012 Dutch Caribbean Age Group Championships

2012 Dutch Caribbean Age Group Championships is a championship for young Track & Field athletes of the islands of the Dutch Kingdom. In 2012 there were four islands competing. Aruba, Curaçao, Bonaire and Sint Maarten. They compete in different events and the athlete with the overall most points will be declared the winner. There are two age groups, they are 11–12 years (Pentathlon) and 13–14 years (Heptathlon). This year was the first year that three of the former Dutch Antilles competed. Sint Eustatius would not return for this year's event while Sint Maarten made its return and Bonaire competed for the very first time. In total there were 38 athletes taking part in this competition.

Events

The Pentathlon consist of a total of 5 different events. These events are 60 metres, Long Jump, High Jump, Baseball throw and 800 metres (for the girls) and 1000 metres (for the boys).

The Heptathlon consist of a total of 7 different events. These events are 80 metres, Long Jump, High Jump, Baseball throw, shot put, 80 metres hurdles (for the girls), 80 metres hurdles and 1000 metres (for the girls) and 1200 metres (for the boys).

Heptathlon: Ruwensley Hansen, Jean-Marc Scorea, Tiffany Hurtado and Glenka Antonia

Sint Maarten

Pentathlon: Leshawn Brown, Quair Hodge and Malisca Daal

Heptathlon: Mishak James, Vernon Gumbs, Aisha Violenus and Chandra Vanterpool (Extra Athlete: Tia Gomez)

Bonaire

Pentathlon: Kevin Alberto, Raynold Wilsoe, Julivienne Sommer and Jerona Rifaela

Extra Athletes: Farella Lemming and Aryton Cicilia for the relay team

Fun Facts

- Axel Tromp and Sarahi Sierra of Aruba and Tiffany Hurtado of Curaçao are the only athletes coming back from the 2010 Dutch Caribbean Age Group Championships from the U-13 Category.

- Aruba won all Gold Medals in the U-15 Girls Category and for the first time all three Medals in the Overall Girls U-15.

- This would be the first time Curaçao hasn't Medal in one of the relays.

- Curaçao Won overall Team and Overall in Medal Count while Aruba has the highest Count in total Gold Medals.

- A grand total of 18 Records new records were recorded in this event
