Nikolay Davydenko was the defending champion, but lost in the second round to Mischa Zverev.
Andy Murray won this tournament by beating Roger Federer 6–3, 6–2 in the final.[1] Rafael Nadal's loss in the third round also ended his record streak of 21 consecutive Masters 1000 quarterfinals.
