Meanwhile, Ecuatorian Lapentti got his revenge at the doubles competition, in which he won the title alongside Argentinian Eduardo Schwank, by defeating also Argentinians Sebastián Decoud y Cristian Villagrán in the final, 6–4, 6–0, in just 1 hour of match time.
