1981 Singaporean presidential election
An election was held on 23 October 1981 to elect the President of Singapore.[1] It was held following the death of President Benjamin Sheares on 12 May 1981.

Devan Nair was unanimously elected by the Parliament of Singapore as president.[2]
During the election, 58 members of Parliament were present while 14 members were absent.[3]
Nair was sworn in as president on 24 October 1981.[4]
