Stan Smith defeated Jan Kodeš 3–6, 6–3, 6–2, 7–6(5–3) in the final to win the Men's Singles tennis title at the 1971 US Open. Ken Rosewall was the defending champion but did not compete at the 1971 US Open – Men's Singles event.
