Under first-year head coach Ray Nagel, the Redskins were 4–7 overall and 3–3 in the Mountain States Conference (Skyline). The defending conference champions, they were led on the field by senior quarterback Lee Grosscup and junior safety (& halfback) Larry Wilson, a future member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
