1940 Bathurst Grand Prix
The 1940 Bathurst Grand Prix was a motor race staged at the Mount Panorama road racing circuit near Bathurst in New South Wales, Australia on 25 March 1940.[1] The race was contested on a handicap basis [2] over a distance of 150 miles, comprising 37 laps of the course.[1] It was promoted by the New South Wales Light Car Club.[1]
The race was won by Alf Barrett (Alfa Romeo "Monza"), who also set fastest time [3] and fastest lap,[4] the latter being a new lap record.[3]

gollark: I mean that the expensiveness is probably a consequence of other weirdness, like the way the whole "prestige" thing with it seem to work, and that apparently much of the value in it is just signalling and not education.
gollark: The US's college system seems kind of insane, and would probably be less expensive if it wasn't like that.
