November | 04 | W9XAP in Chicago, Illinois broadcasts the U.S. senatorial election returns, which was the first time a senatorial race, with non-stop vote tallies, was ever televised. |
December | 07 | W1XAV in Boston, Massachusetts broadcasts video from the CBS radio orchestra program, The Fox Trappers. The broadcast also includes the first television commercial in the United States, an advertisement for I.J. Fox Furriers, who sponsored the radio show. |

gollark: This isn't accurate. I've vaguely looked at graphs and the percent of people passing/getting high grades does not appear to have changed much since the 9-1 system was introduced.
