1898 Carmarthen Rural District Council election
The second election to the Carmarthen Rural District Council was held in April 1898. It was preceded by the 1894 election and followed by the 1901 election. The successful candidates were also elected to the Carmarthen Board of Guardians.
There were unopposed returns in most wards at this election with some candidates withdrawing soon after nomination day to remove the need for a contest.[1]

gollark: I don't think you can reasonably expect people to do useful possibly boring/hard work, in exactly the jobs you want, just to be nice/altruistic.
gollark: You wouldn't want people to be rewarded in some way for work?
gollark: "Fordist"?
gollark: And what if everyone wants to do a job which isn't that useful?
gollark: Again, how are you going to quantify that in every job ever without there being some financial incentive for it to make a little sense?
