111 George Street

111 George Street is a building on George Street in the Brisbane CBD, Australia which was completed in 1993. The building is owned, managed and occupied by the Queensland Government. With its repetitive grill pattern, it is sometimes colloquially referred to as the 'cheese grater'. The site covers 1,299 m2. A sister project known as 33 Charlotte Street was later built on the adjoining site, and has a very similar façade. This smaller building is 75 m high and was completed in September 2004.[1]

Tenants

111 George Street is currently occupied by three departments of the Queensland Government:

  • Department of Child Safety, Youth and Women (the Office of the Director-General is housed at 1 William Street) [3]
  • Department of Communities, Disability Services and Seniors (the Office of the Director-General is housed at 1 William Street)[4]
  • Arts Queensland[5]

The building used to be occupied by additional departments of the Queensland Government, which have since moved to other buildings or 1 William Street, where most executive branch and executive-level units are housed.

gollark: This is true. It seems like it's a pretty easy process on Google Pixels and stuff, but due to google bad you then lose the various payment things.
gollark: I think the best way to avoid badness is to buy a reasonably popular mid-range or old high-end phone and flash LineageOS or something, although that might take up time to do too.
gollark: For me, at least, it would be *worse* than a mediocre Android phone, since it would be more annoying to use ssh/mosh to access my server when I need to fix things, and generally worse to test things on portably.
gollark: I have learned by now that the bare minimum is not very good, having bought somewhat less RAM for my laptop than I should even though the price difference wasn't big and generated untold annoyance over time, but iPhones are quite far into diminishing returns territory.
gollark: I guess it depends on what you're comparing against pricewise.
