Þórðar saga hreðu

Þórðar saga hreðu (listen ) is one of the sagas of Icelanders. The saga dates from about 1350 and takes place at Miðfjörður in the northwest of Iceland in the latter half of the 900s. [1]

The saga tells of Tord Tordsson (Þórður Þórðarson) and his family who must escape from Norway to Iceland after he was involved in the murder of Sigurd Sleva who dead in 964. Sigurd Sleva was one of the sons of King Erik Bloodaxe and his wife Gunnhild. In his new home, Tord makes an enemy of the local chieftain. He later saves the chieftain's son from the death and makes him his foster son. [2]
