Tallow

Tallow was a substance which was produced by rendering down the roots of the bloodoak tree. Tallow produced the finest candles. When lit, tallow candles would give off "an eerie, misty light and rich, pungent fumes that were believed both to sharpen the reflexes and give courage"[1]. In the First Age of Flight, The League of Taper and Tallow Moulders produced and sold massive quantities of tallow-candles[2]. In the Third Age of Flight, the Tallow-hats would wear tallow-candles on their hats[3].
