Serpentwaifs

Serpentwaifs were a rare variety of waif found in the Nightwoods. Like all waifs, they possessed the ability to communicate silently through telepathy. Similarly to blackwaifs and waterwaifs, they had scaly skin, which they shed periodically. In 41 ᴇ.ʏ., Woodfish fashioned two large gourds from shed serpentwaif skins, which he used to transport his supply of Riverrise water.[1]
