First Endless Winter

A frozen cloudeater

The First Endless Winter was a period of extremely cold weather around the area of Sanctaphrax. It was caused by the failed attempt of the First Scholars to create life. The attempt drew a cloudeater to the Edge and trapped it in a carapace of ice. The crisis was averted when Quode Quanx-Querix sailed to Open Sky and released stormphrax into the cloudeater, freeing the creature from the ice and stopping the cold weather.
