Digit

Digit was the name of Maris Pallitax's pet wood-lemkin.

Biography

Maris got Digit when she was a child, although her father never really approved of her keeping a pet in the palace.[1]

In 16 ᴇ.ʏ., Maris was forced to move to Undertown with Heft and Dacia Vespius, her aunt and uncle. They didn't allow Digit to stay, so he instead lived with Welma Thornwood and Tweezel in the rooms above a pink-eyed goblin ironmongers.[2]

Digit travelled to Sanctaphrax with Welma on Treasury Day in 16 ᴇ.ʏ., but died later that year, unable to cope with the extreme cold of the endless winter.[3]

Relationships

Tweezel

Tweezel, the curator of the Palace of Shadows until 15 ᴇ.ʏ., had an irrational fear of Digit. He avoided him most of the time, especially if he wasn't secured by a leash.[1] He probably got over this phobia in 16 ᴇ.ʏ., as they had to live in close proximity to each other.

Maris Pallitax and Welma Thornwood

Maris and Welma cared for Digit for most of his life, meaning they both had very loving relationships with her. A year after Digit's death, Maris still missed him.[3]

Linius Pallitax

Maris' father, Linius, didn't approve of a pet being kept in the Palace of Shadows. He initially objected to Digit, however during his later years as Most High Academe, he became too busy to even notice his presence.[1]

Behind the scenes

Main article: Errors and inconsistencies in the Edge Chronicles

During the events of The Curse of the Gloamglozer, Digit was referred to as a "she".[4] However, in Clash of the Sky Galleons, Maris referred to Digit as "he".[3] This page refers to Digit as male, because that is the gender given most recently.
