Academy of Wind massacre
The Academy of Wind massacre was a mass murder that took place at the Academy of Wind, occurring at some point in the First Age of Flight, during the time of the First Scholars of Sanctaphrax. It resulted in the death of the entire student-body and faculty of the school.[1]
Events
The High Professor of the Academy of Wind at the time, Aurelius Ventilix, decreed that the Academy of Wind would be remodelled. Jealous of the cliff-marble adorning the School of Light and Darkness, Ventilix ordered the school to be rebuilt entirely out of the precious rock mined from the Cliff Quarries of the Edgelands. He created the precursor to the Leagues of Undertown to streamline his efforts.[1]
Cliff-marble was very beautiful when polished; during the day, it would shimmer with shifting patterns of light, whilst during the night, it would glow like a beacon -- serving as a landmark for mire travellers and migrating snowbirds.[1]
What Aurelius Ventilix and the windtouchers didn't understand was that the luminescence was due to the fact that cliff-marble had a tendency of attracting glisters to its surface. The glisters had a malevolent effect on the minds of the windtouchers, plaguing them with rage, envy, and depression.[1]
The amount of glisters permeating the school's walls increased steadily, until one night, when the moon was full. The swarm of glisters barricaded the school and drove the windtouchers mad. In their mindless terror, the windtouchers slaughtered each other. The academics of the other schools listened but didn't intervene until noon the next day.[1]
Upon discovering the bloodbath within the Academy of Wind, the academics of the other schools removed all of the cliff-marble from the Academy of Wind, the College of Rain, the School of Light and Darkness, and the College of Cloud. The only place where cliff-marble was left untouched was the West Wall of the Knights Academy.[1]
The knights academic believed that keeping the cliff-marble was a sign of bravery and a deterrent of prying eyes, though none would spend much time there, especially at night when glisters would congregate at the wall.[1]
