I am using Windows 8.1. When I connect to the Internet, many applications connect simultaneously. I want to set limits for every application accessing network, so I can use data efficiently. How can I do this?
I tested some third-party software products, but they cause problems with my PC, so I'm looking for a built-in function (i.e., native functionality).

@DavidPostill: I believe that they aren't (exactly) the same question. This one is about throttling network usage (bandwidth) on a per-process (or per-application, if that's possible) basis. Raj's other question appears to be about how to disable network access on a per-process basis ("I want to control … which can connect and which cannot.") This question may be a duplicate of How can I limit bandwidth of other programs?, and the other is probably a duplicate of some firewall-related question.
