How do i properly configure Bridge Mode on a modem/router?

0

Just ordered a modem from a local ISP. When i switch the device to Bridge mode and connect it to my router, i cannot no longer connect to the Internet. On the management page of the modem/router (from the ISP), under Network (Bridge) mode settings, it asks for a LAN IP and subnet and displays WAN configurations auto entered by the ISP. Should the IP address set on the modem/router in bridge mode be the on the same subnet as my router? If this helps, my connection uses a Dynamic IP (DHCP on ISP end.) How do i configure the modem/router so that Bridge mode can work properly. Any help is appreciated.

1If the ISP Modem is in "Bridged" mode it will simply pass traffic to your router, you will need to configure your router to handle the DHCP traffic from the ISP and assign the IP to the router. You will need to make sure you plug in the modem to the correct router port (Internet port). If you list both the modem & router models and the ISP I can try to help you configure them. – Optichip – 2014-12-31T16:05:25.563

Thanks @Optichip. The modem/router is a Huawei 4G LTE Gateway (no model name...nothing on the box other than this on the ISP supplied, Huawei branded box) and my router is a TP-LINK TL-R600VPN. – dubyzu – 2014-12-31T17:08:51.090
