What happened to the partitions I set up before installing windows, and the Ubuntu?

0

A recent tragedy caused me to reload everything. As I started, I split the windows partition in half, then halved the unused half into 2 separate quarters, (if you will).

I had hoped to have windows on the biggest half, then Ubuntu 14.04 on the first quarter partition, then Zorin 6 LTS on the third quarter partition.

It did not work out the way I had planned.

I realize that Zorin is older, and more prone to being unstable, but I like the look and feel of it.

I am supposing the three separate partitions are now gone, since installing Trusty.

Any suggestions on how to accomplish a 3 boot system using the initial partitions made whilst formatting the original windows install?

1What do you mean by they are gone? That you cannot boot anything but Ubuntu? Or that your disk instruments do not reveal any partition? Please post the output of fdisk-l or of gdisk -l, whichever applies to the partition table of your disk. – MariusMatutiae – 2014-07-15T10:35:18.963

Please include the information requested by Marius and also tell us what you did. Which version of Windows did you have installed? Are you using a GPT or MBR partitioning scheme? Did you actually install any other OS or just Ubuntu? How did you install? Did you choose the partitions or did you let the installer do so automatically? – terdon – 2014-07-15T10:48:38.267

In doing the re-installation, I used the old windows xp disc. before initiating the install, I partitioned the original partition into three different parts, in MBR, using NTFS. It very well may be that they are there and I cannot find them. Please forgive the hurried response, as I have an appointment to keep. I will give more info later. – gthom – 2014-07-15T18:41:54.570
