Windows Server 2012 Remote desktop substitution

0

Is it possible to substitute the program that Windows Server 2012 by default uses for remote desktop with another program? I need a program that can handle OpenGL, and it is my understanding that by default Windows Server 2012 can only handle DirectX at best. The only problem is I want to retain the concurrent desktop abilities of the default Windows Server software, and it doesn't appear any other RDP software (TightVNC) was made with utilizing the multiple instances Windows Server offers in mind.

EDIT: I understand programs like TightVNC do allow for remote desktop sharing, but I do not want people in my setup fighting over the same desktop.

What you are looking for is something else that can connect to terminal sessions like RDP, as those other programs only connect to the console session, as far as I know. – paradroid – 2014-04-19T15:09:03.883

You should be able to switch sessions within Task Manager, with admin accounts, IIRC. – paradroid – 2014-04-19T15:10:02.350

@paradroid Windows Server 2012 through hyper-v and remoteFX can handle entire remote desktop sessions. The problem is they only support DirectX. – user316859 – 2014-04-19T15:22:49.897
