After a "successful" file recovery (with Restorer Ultimate Pro) no files can be opened

A few weeks ago I suddenly had trouble with my PC (Windows XP Prof), it didn't start and said "A Disk Read Error Occured. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart". I tried a lot of things to overcome this but without success. After that I took the hard disks out of my PC bought a hard disk case and started to recover each hard disk with the software "Restorer Ultimate Pro" (which costs me $49). The two hard disks were built on a RAID 0 system and so I created images of each hard disk and then I scanned and recovered the files.

It seemed successful because all files and folders were there - but I cannot open not even one of these files (like jpg, psd, ai, in, rar, zip and so on).

Does anyone have an idea how to "repair" these files? Or how to repair the PC if I should try it this way? Or any other suggestions!

Sounds like you got taken. Try a free solution. https://www.piriform.com/recuva If you get the same outcome then the files can't be recovered.

Thanks for your advice. I tried several other options, nothing helped. In the end I sent it to a recovery agency, was a bit expensive, but I had no other option. – Zararsiz – 2014-02-02T00:01:28.567
