Advanced configuration of windows tablet via usb

0

I have an HP Stream tablet that is locked in an endless loop of BIOS updating and blank screens. After trying to reset it in a multitude of ways to no avail, I have decided to scratch the current OS and install linux.

Normally this would be an easy task... just pop in a bootable usb and navigate to the UEFI boot settings. However, this is a tablet, which means I can only have one connected device at a time. I.e. I can't have the USB and the keyboard at the same time, which means I can't install linux in the traditional fashion. And yes, I tried navigating with the volume keys but that doesn't work in the UEFI for whatever reason.

My last hope is to connect my tablet to my PC by way of OTG adapter and complete the installation from my PC. However, I have no idea how to do this. I suspect that you can, given the right software and know-how, but in this I am lacking. Any ideas?

First, a failed BIOS update probably cannot be fixed by booting from USB - BIOS comes before boot. However, have you tried a USB hub, allowing you to connect both devices? – DrMoishe Pippik – 2019-12-08T06:45:19.300

No, I thought about buying one so that I can try it, but I honestly don't think it will work... I figured my best shot was to connect it to my windows pc and try to do some advanced configuration on the bios and/or OS. – ragnvaldr.js – 2019-12-08T20:38:21.920
