Is there a Chrome argument similar to --app-id for running an extension (and not an app)?

Question

I am in Linux, and installing the Hangouts app, I see in the launcher it creates in ~/.local/share/applications that it is run with the command /usr/bin/chromium-browser "--profile-directory=Default" --app-id=knipolnnllmklapflnccelgolnpehhpl.

For the purpose of this question I have tried to use that command and start the Hangouts window in relation to the extension the same way, but it doesn't work.

Is there an extension-specific argument like --app-id that could be used to run a Chrome extension?
