I have a laptop that dual boots Windows 7 an 10 from different hard drives (there are 2 hard drives in the laptop and I switch boot device via BIOS). Neither OS is on the domain.
If I boot into Windows 10 and try to access folder "C:\Users\Joe7" on Windows 7 drive I get this message:
You don't currently have permission to access this folder
Click Continue to permanently get access to this folder"
I understand why I get this message (accounts have different SID-s) and if I click "Continue" I will gain access.
My question is: what are the implications for Windows 7 user "Joe7" (or any other Windows 7 users) when laptop is booted into Windows 7 again?
1Changing the permissions on a user's profile directory isn't a very good idea. If you want to share the data, transfer the data to a directory that is owned by Everyone, this will allow both installations access to the data and prevent profile corruption. – Ramhound – 2019-10-03T22:15:31.880
