I've tried to regain access to my good old Buffalo LS-XL 2.0TB NAS I had lying around, but haven't succeeded. This is what I've tried:
• Contacted Buffalo tech support. They confirm that the model I have can be reset only via WebAccess with admin rights, which coincides with the information in the manual [0]—there's no physical reset button on the device. Because I've forgotten the admin credentials, this isn't a workable solution.
• A JavaScript hack. I've tried an old Buffalo WebAccess hack [1], but this vulnerability has since been patched.
I have an Ethernet connection on my Mac, so I could connect the NAS directly to my computer if that would allow me to access and restore the device to factory settings. Thanks so much for any help you can give!

Have you checked to see if keychain has it? Launch Keychain access [Apps/Utilities] & type
192.
in the search [assuming that's your subnet]. That should bring up a list short enough to go through by trial & error. – Tetsujin – 2019-08-28T07:03:56.047@Tetsujin Thanks for the tip. I've checked my keychain, and unfortunately it doesn't have the password needed. Anything else I can do? – David Garsia – 2019-08-30T10:20:43.113
Sorry, you might be out of luck. It was a last ditch guess really. – Tetsujin – 2019-08-30T10:21:37.980
