Powerline vs. Wireless AC (currently on N 2.4 ghz) for overcoming bandwidth saturation? (Update thread)

Previous thread

Here is an excerpt of my ping when people are streaming video. Speedtest appears to be fine whether wired or wireless, with people streaming or not. Ping is fine at all times except for when people are streaming and my computer is wireless.

My current router is a Linksys E1550. My computer only supports b/g/n 2.4 ghz. Would these ping "rubber band" issues (only via wireless) be solved by upgrading to an AC router and an AC capable dual band adapter or card? Powerline seems to be a finicky technology and I'd rather stay wireless if the bandwidth via wifi won't be saturated.

I am also upgrading my internet to 150 down and want to take as much advantage of this speed as I can. I cannot wire via Ethernet directly due to the house configuration. (Current speed is 25 down for reference)

Here are my pings, via 2.4 ghz wireless N, when people are streaming video. They are to a Valve US East server which is typical of what I play on experiencing lag.

Ping statistics for 208.78.164.111:
    Packets: Sent = 146, Received = 146, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 15ms, Maximum = 417ms, Average = 87ms

So to proceed with this issue should I try Powerline (and attempt to return it if it doesn't work) or upgrade my router and card? Which one will be best in getting the best speed I can (as close to 150 down as I can) and less saturation?

Unless you also upgrade your client devices, upgrading to a 802.11AC router, won't solve your latency problems. The legacy clients will still have the same, latency, and will actually effect the latency of any 802.11AC clients you do have connected. What latency you will have from Powerline depends on numerous factors, we don't have, since you didn't provide it. Even if you do provide information related, to how power is distrubuted in your dwelling, we can't predict what latency will exist. – Ramhound – 2016-09-22T16:28:24.460

I will not submit this as an answer, I don't believe in answers like what I am about to say, so don't ask. When I moved into my current dwelling, my cable box is in the living room, because there isn't an outlet in my office. What this meant is I either had to run a coax cable to the office or find another solution. So I personally used the fastest PowerLine product I could find, then connected that to a 802.11AC extender, and configured for my needs. This allows me to have a router in my office, and in my living room, for all my device needs. – Ramhound – 2016-09-22T16:31:02.900

Why are you asking the same question again? Please don't do that, read and take note of What should I do if no one answers my question?. If you have new information you should edit it into the original question instead of asking a new one.
