after dual Booting win 8.1 and Ubuntu 14.10 everything worked fine until some weeks ago grub menu disappeared. I then installed Linux mint hoping it would have rectified the situation. During installation of Mint 17.1, it only discovered the Ubuntu partition and not the windows. I thought this was OK, it would simply install on Linux partition. After installation was completed and I rebooted I got "please insert proper boot device..... and then press a key. What did I do wrong?
