Ever since I was little I've had an interest in technology. When I'd get toys that ran on batteries and whilst still in primary school, I'd break them apart to see how they worked and would connect the bulb or the motor to a battery via a simple switch. This curiosity led me to study Computer Engineering at university where I graduated with a 2:1 plus a year in industry. Following this I specialised in Software Development and Telecommunications.

Initially I worked on developing 3rd/4th generation networks; eventually becoming a consultant and working on remote assignments in Japan / San-Diego / Paris / Tel-Aviv and Oulu. In those roles, I've been a tester, a test developer, a customer support engineer and an integration specialist. Key wins I had during that time were to integrate Nokia's handset testing libraries into our own, setting up an automated test system for the Japanese office, training junior engineers on protocol stacks and debugging critical issues.

With the growth of web apps I became interested in learning more about this field. What I love about the web is the idea that you can create products people love, that can have a large audience. To help me make the transition I taught myself coding in my spare time via online tutorials and courses. Initially I began with the Ruby programming language, then Python and eventually deciding to become a JavaScript developer.

In my current role I've worked as a junior member of a team of Front-end engineers using Vuejs to implement API driven accessible features, inline with patterns in the codebase. In addition I've used 'chai' to implement unit tests and Cypress-js to implement end-to-end tests.

In my spare time I have created an SSR food ordering web application in React. This ran on Digital Ocean, and was backed by Mongodb. There is still so much to learn and practice and I actively strive to develop myself both professionally and personally.
