Background: After doing some small time gigs from 2008 to 2010, I started my proper career in 2010 as Linux System Administrator with a small web hosting company. Honestly, I didn’t know what to do next and kept going for a few more years with the same type of job roles. I was an expert in email(SMTP) systems(Postfix, Exim, Qmail), but it was a dying art with no takers.

Transition to DevOps: Midway in my career in 2015, I decided to learn new programming languages, specifically Java and Python. Couldn’t do justice to Java, but decided to keep Python as my main scripting tool. While working closely with developers in one project, I mastered some tools(Jenkins, GitLab, Ansible) they needed and somehow improved the work they did. That encouraged me to explore more into the realm of DevOps.

Something personal: It doesn't matter if it was some outdated technology or shiny new framework, one thing I love is solving complex technical problems and making it work the way I need it. I don’t have big, lofty ambitions to change the world or to settle on Mars. I just keep upgrading myself, in my own time, in my own space; one bit at a time.

Experience: Linux, Python scripting, Ansible, Docker, Atlassian tools(Jira, Bamboo, Bitbucket, Confluence, Crowd), Web servers(Nginx, HTTPD), MySQL, Puppet, AWS, Sonarqube, Nexus repository, build tools(Maven, Gradle, NPM)
