I'm a PhD student at the University of Arizona studying computer vision in the Department of Computer Science.

I started programming at age 13 in Apple Hypercard (I still remember saving for months to buy version 2.2 -- with COLOR!). I started learning C++ at 15, a process that I'm discovering never ends.

I learned Java in college, and C# and SQL while interning at Intel. After graduating, I spent around two years doing PHP development for the College of Fine Arts, and in Fall 2009, I began the PhD program, finally returning to my first love, C++, doing scientific computing. Lately I've been experimenting with SWIG to incorporate Python into my C++ projects.

My PhD work has been primarily in machine learning and computer vision, using statistical models and Bayesian inference. My current work focuses on reconstructing 3D structure of plants from 2D images.

Besides being a programmer, I'm also a music lover and amateur musician.
