I like books, and Unix, and medieval studies, and games. "Standard Eyre" ties together the standard error stream, the circuit court presided over by a judge in medieval England, and one of the most famous books ever written in English.
When I first heard the expression stderr, I thought "Standard Eyre sounds like a distant cousin of Jane."
