Having trained and practised as a naval architect and industrial designer I moved to designing software as a result of a desire to make complex information simple. From software design it was a simple step to coding. I now have 25 years of experience in the IT industry, have been nominated as one of the world's top 25 CTOs and has been included in the list of the top 100 CIOs. I have been passionate about open source since 2000 and am a member of the open source hardware foundation, 40 Fires. I was Technical Director of fine art and collectors' auctioneers Bonhams until 2007 and founder and CEO of open source solutions company Quru until 2020.
