Scenario

We have an ORACLE Forms client application deployed on multiple Windows clients and one Microsoft Terminal Services server. The application has scarce documentation and largely inefficient support.

The application works properly on standalone clients.

The application is installed outside of %ProgramFiles%, directly in c:\AppName, with full privileges granted to all authenticated users.

Problem

On Terminal Services (only), occasionally the application begins to throw the following error at startup:

Failed to open file: ifrun60_dump_<somenumber>

Once the problem appears for any user, it becomes a permanent issue for that particular user. Deleting the local user profile fixes the problem until next occurrence.

Attempted debug

Based on extremely scarce google results on that error, I have attempted following checks:

  • There are no dumps of such name stored in c:\AppName\orant\FORMS60\log (I only guess that it should be there).
  • If that matters, the FORMS60_TRACE_PATH variable is not defined neither in registry nor in OS

Since this is a terminal server, I suspect the problem may be related to user working concurrently, but have no clue for further investigation.

Question

Unfortunately, I've got no specialized experience with ORACLE Forms. I cannot trace down the source of the problem and fix it. Any assistance will be priceless :)
