As per topic, Im just trying to make this simple setup work. The services are running fine, but as far as I can tell statsd doesn't send anything over to ganglia. Ganglia is working fine I guess since I get the web interface and basic system info there.
I'm using the wikimedia's backend plugin, although I have used this one previously and I had the same problem.
Here is the statsd config:
{
port: 8125,
debug: true,
dumpMessages: true,
backends: [ "./backends/ganglia.js" ],
gangliaHost: "127.0.0.1", // Hostname of Ganglia server (required)
gangliaPort: 8649 // UDP port of Ganglia server (default: 8649)
}
Using this test script I am sending messages which appear in statsd log:
root@ip-10-32-59-208:/opt/statsd# nodejs stats.js config.js
28 Nov 18:12:46 - reading config file: config.js
28 Nov 18:12:46 - server is up
28 Nov 18:12:46 - DEBUG: Loading backend: ./backends/ganglia.js
28 Nov 18:13:01 - DEBUG: ometria.test.test:1|c
28 Nov 18:13:01 - DEBUG: ometria.test.test:1|c
28 Nov 18:13:01 - DEBUG: ometria.test.test:1|c
28 Nov 18:13:01 - DEBUG: ometria.test.test:1|c
28 Nov 18:13:01 - DEBUG: ometria.test.test:1|c
28 Nov 18:13:01 - DEBUG: ometria.test.test:1|c
28 Nov 18:13:01 - DEBUG: ometria.test.test:1|c
28 Nov 18:13:01 - DEBUG: ometria.test.test:1|c
28 Nov 18:13:01 - DEBUG: ometria.test.test:1|c
28 Nov 18:13:01 - DEBUG: ometria.test.test:1|c
But as I said, they fail to appear in ganglia web interface. The ganglia debug output is full of various stuff but it doesn't print anything vaguely related at the moment I send these messages. Lastly heres my ganglia config file (its a default, not modified), please let me know if you can help:

BTW, I have opened all ports 1000-10000 for this instance, but all traffic is on localhost anyway.
