We facing a strange issue with our Shared Folders hosted on Windows Server VM, recently upgraded to Win 2019 Datacenter.

Randomly after last reboot (can be 2 days or 5 days after), we facing the issues described below :

  • Some users can't browse anymore specifics trees on there shared folders
  • In the Shared Folders Management MMC console, in Opened Files we can see plenty of "Disconnected user" who access same tree, and if we try to right-clic > disconnect the session, nothing's happen
  • Trying to manually restart service "Serveur" and associated services doesn't work and can't restart the services
  • Sometimes we can't login, the server freeze at "Please wait for the Local Session Manager" or black screen after entering credentials
  • When the login successful, we are unable to restart the server by the start menu, the server stuck x hours on "Restarting"

To get again a working system after we notice that, we have to perform a force restart of the VM...

The first symptoms are users who are complaining can't access theres folders. And we noticed all others symptoms are here when this first problem appears.

We can't find any other forum thread about this kind of issue. We checked servers event viewer too but can't find anything related.

Do you have any idea why we see theses stranges comportements ?

For example you can find here a screen of the "Disconnected user" saw in the Shared Folders Management MMC console : https://i.stack.imgur.com/ACOEh.png
