Anyone know of how to make a Gun Cane? A simple, easy to make cane that has a built in gun?

A built in gun? If you mean a one shot gun, then that would be pretty easy...

Just embed a little pipe in the bottom, after hollowing it out via drilling.

The fancy aluminum canes would probably be best for this.

After you have the "barrel", you just have to rig up a firing mechanism.

...hmm...

probably something initiated from the other end of the cane (the top?) that fires out of the bottom/base.

Ideally, it wont be something that is held back all the time and is "released" when you want to fire, thus reducing risk of it going off at a... bad time.

I am trying to think of a way to only use a short length of pipe, like under a foot, but it may be easier to have the pipe the entire length of the cane, with the firing mechanism on top.

If you can't think of any way to make the firing mechanism in this scenario, you don't need to be playing with this toy.

look at the first picture in my sig.

This design should be easy to imbed into a cane/umbrella etc. just do away with the handle/trigger then just tie a string to the plunger and run the string up to the handle where it could be pulled back and released when you want to fire.

This design was actually modelled off one of "Lowrys" guns in reference to this <a href="http://www.roguesci.org/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=5;t=001316" target="_blank">thread</a>, i never saw it actually firing, nor the inner moving parts but his had this same action.

@Zykon-B... try to get a copy of david truby's book "zips, pipes and pens - arsenal of improvised weapons"
and you'll find photos and exploded drawings of a cane gun (as a silenced .22LR cal. defense weapon :) ).

but the nicest weapon in this book is ZAPPER - a zippo gun :D

I have the book, Zips, Pipes, and Pens. Testament to human will. As for the canegun, ZAPPER, and othe Sardaukar Press shooters, I have the complete set of plans. Just gotta get them scanned. Trouble is, they're printed on weird-sized paper that doesn't fit my scanner. When I find a way to get them scanned, I'll upload to FTP (when I get access).

Great, I'm interested in that book too.
I have made myself some simple electrically fired pipe guns at several occasions, they are only propelled by match head composition and sealed in the end with a centimeter hot glue. They can be quite powerfull actually. I have made them out of everything from steel to plastic(plastic ones tend to explode, I always use cover so it's not a problem). Electrical ignition could be a solution since you can place the trigger anywhere if you have no need for reloading.

Ive uploaded some of my sketches of a Zip gun idea.
I had it built, in a rather hacked up form - and it worked fine.

Using .22 blanks and .22 air rifle pellets (6mm airsoft BBs in the prototype :p ) its got enuff power to hurt like hell. In the face. Ouch.

There are a few sketches there.... a little confusing (read: make no fucking sense to anyone but me) but theyre there...

Also, check out <a href="http://www.blitzmillennium.net/rob/" target="_blank">http://www.blitzmillennium.net/rob/</a>
for a few pics and stuff...

about a week ago i was on vacation to copenhagen denmark. and becouse the are a lot of hunters in my family (me,my dad,his dad, and my two onkels) So we went to "jag og skovbrugs museumet"(hunting and forrest use museum) there where some very cool cane guns. there was even a 12 guage shotguns cane. the reason they where made was becouse hunting used to belong to the king. And if you breaked this law you would loose your head. :)

John 99, that's an affirmative. As I mentioned before, I don't yet have FTP access, nor have I been able to get a good scan of the plans--they're done full scale, so I want it done right.

Speaking of weapons, does anyone want me to post a breakdown of a HK SL8-1 trigger group breakdown?

lac did you take any pictures on this visit? I would love to see some of those weapons.

Has anyone thought of using electronic ignition for the gun cane?

Unless of course your looking for more than a one shot cane electronic ignition would be alot easier for those of us that can't make the little pieces for a spring loaded pin hitting the primer.
And alot safer too.
As since it is a cane it will suffer from knocks and will most probably get hit around alot. If it is set off by a spring it could easily dislodge and go off accidently when you least expect it to.
It would probably take out your foot.

Dude, "electronic ignition" implies an solely electrical solution. What you describe is a electro-mechanical system and wouldn't be much less complex than a purely mechanical one.

Basically, electronic ignitor in place of the primer, 9v battery and momentary switch, nice, simple and reliable. Although I'd put a covered arming switch in too for safety.
