Does anybody have, or know where to get some plans for a working model cannon? I want to build one now because I'll be taking machining in school soon so I'll be able to build it "properly". http://theforum.virtualave.net/ubb/smilies/biggrin.gif

Library. Find the plans for the type of cannon you are looking for and scale everything down to the size you want to make it.

What size of model are you looking at building? What type of cannon are you going for? Breach loader? Carbide(tamped BP)? Are you going to shoot projectiles or just wadding? What types of materials are you thinking of using? Skill level? What type of machines do you have accses too? (metal lathe and milling machine, surface grinder... if you know)

I ask because ive seen it done several times, several different ways.

Well, I don't know exactly what I want yet. I know I wanna build a model cannon, but I don't know what kind. Here's my situation. I've always wanted to have one of these model cannons (since my old school principle told me about his) and now I think I may have the opportunity. I recently switched schools so now I can take all these metalworking and machining classes http://theforum.virtualave.net/ubb/smilies/smile.gif As far as I know, they have the whole shmabang: steel lathe, milling machine, grinders, drill presses, welders (mig, tig and arc), torches (acetelyne and plasma), some sort of plasma cutter thing that you can draw a dark, 2D object on paper and it'll cut it out for you, there's also a C.N.C. lathe...
That's pretty much everything I can remember, but I think that'll be plenty. For the barrel, I was thinking of just using one off of an old gun, along with the breech. Either that, or I was thinkin' of the Sten MKII plans I got, mabye build that receiver and mounting it... hehehe, that'd be kool, like a model AAA gun, yeah, and I could shoot down my friends model airplane... ok, but anywayz, does anyone else have some suggestions for me? Oh, and I'd like it to be a breech loader, kindof a no-brainer now, but keep in mind, that's what I want. It might be easier to build a muzzleloader and just use those prefab pyrodex pellets....

Anyone?

here are two links one is of a 10 gauge blank firing cannon with a breech block and the other one is about carbide cannons (maybe not directly what you are looking for but nice info) on the site of the 10 gauge cannon there is not realy a plan but photo's on how it was build but I think it gives a good impression on how to build one.
of the carbide cannons are plans .
