As far as I know, in a regular fire weapon the firing rate is higher if the spent cartridges (cartridge casings) are removed faster�but what if there is no �spent cartridge�? What if the bullet is directly attached to a properly designed block/piece of nitrocellulose based mixture, let�s say (with internal canals for increased burning rate etc.)? The ignition part may be more complicate, but I don�t think this is a serious problem.
