As far as I know, in a regular fire weapon the firing rate is higher if the spent cartridges (cartridge casings) are removed fasterbut what if there is no spent cartridge? What if the bullet is directly attached to a properly designed block/piece of nitrocellulose based mixture, lets say (with internal canals for increased burning rate etc.)? The ignition part may be more complicate, but I dont think this is a serious problem.

What do you think about this?
