Better download what you can on the somewhat recently unreliable Forum FTP, burn to a cd/floppy, and bury it in something that can survive a EMP attack!

cd's would survive EMP i think since they don't actually work from conduction as other compnenets/storage devices do....

It's being done in the name of "prevention of terrorism", but it's really about the government using this as an excuse to recall all those embarrassing documents that they didn't want floating around in the first place. Things like toxic waste dumps, budget reports about pork barrel projects, etc.

Besides, every terrorist group worth its salt already either has the information, or can get it from their state sponsors who have access to satellite imagery, spies, etc.

CD-R have zero metal content, using organic dyes instead of aluminum like commercially stamped CDs use. Thus totally immune to EMP or electric current. Though they'll still fry wonderfully in a microwave. And any microwave bomb strong enough to fry a CD-R will burn you to a cinder, so that'd be the least of your worries.

I too have noticed a lot of problems with the FTP, but then ctrl_c is on vacation, so there's bound to be problems. I'd suggest that everyone just do what they did before the FTP was around till ctrl_c get's back.

I have a backup of sorts of the FTP, it's several months old, and doesn't have a lot of the stuff that everyone's uploaded, but I could put it on my FTP as a back up if anyone's intrested.
